Why Am I Getting an Error?
Every time an organization or business is registered on Do Some Good, they get their own unique website address for the organization or business profile. That address is always unique and it is created using the business or organization name and sometimes includes the city as well. For instance, here is the unique address for the business profile of Do Some Good:
Sometimes a business or organization decides they do not want to participate on the Do Some Good platform and they request that the profile be deleted. When this happens the profile is deleted but the url that was reserved for them is never used again. If you try to register an organization or business with the exact same name twice, there will be a conflict because the web address must be unique.
How Can I Fix It?
If you receive the error that your name has already been used, here is what you can do:
- Register your organization with a name that is slightly different in spelling. Maybe drop the 'The' off the front of your name, or you could consider using just the organization initials. Whatever will get you past this first step.
- This new name you choose on the registration screen will be used to create the permanent web address for your profile.
- Once the organization is registered and you have completed the onboarding steps, visit your Organization Profile in management and change the name to be your preferred original name.
Once you complete these three steps, your profile web address will not change but your organization name on your profile will use your proper organization name.
