What is the 'Organization Name' Element?
The 'Organization Name' element is one of the many elements available in your Design Tools area in Form Builder that you can use when building a form.
The 'Organization Name' element allows respondents to search for and select an organization from a drop-down list of organizations on our platform.
Why Should I Use the 'Organization Name' Element?
Using the "Organization Name" element in your form allows the submitted organization name to appear in your submission list in the "Associated Organization" column, and allows you to search your submission list by organization name.
NOTE: If you have multiple 'Organization Name' elements on your form, the one closest to the top of the form will be the one that is treated as the 'Associated Organization'.
As well as appearing in the submission list, the submitted organization name will appear at the top of your submission summary page. Anywhere the submitted organization name appears, it will be linked to the organization's Do Some Good profile (if available).
If the organization submitting isn't on Do Some Good, they can still enter their organization name. Simply click "Just use <your search>" and the field will accept their name. Once they submit the form, they will be encouraged to join Do Some Good for free if they are one of the organization administrators.
Why Shouldn't I Use a Regular Text Element?
If you use a simple text field to collect organization name, this information may appear in your reports and in the submission details, but WILL NOT be listed in the "Associated Organization" column in your submission list, be linked, or be searchable in the submission list, and instead will appear as "N/A" in the column.
How Do I Know If I Am Using an 'Organization Name' Element?
To be sure you are using an Organization Name element, open Form Builder and click on the element you are using. The properties window always shows the type the element you currently have selected at the top of the window.
